2002 s80 D5 serpentine belt kit
Looking to buy a new aux belt and tensioners for my s80D5 from 2002 ( model year 2003) and mightily confused- as Gates give a range of engine numbers that seem to be way off!
my Engine serial number is # 67604 and gates give 2 kits- 1 pre engine number 349808 1 post engine numer 349809 anyone got any ideas? thanks V much! |

I would not fit a Gates kit, and would recommend either genuine Volvo or INA. The Gates belts are good quality, and they actually manufacture the current Volvo auxiliary belts for that generation of D5, but Gates pulleys and tensioners have suffered a big drop in quality over the last couple of years, with many suffering from 'grease purge'. It was a problem for Gates a few years ago, and they admitted it and attempted to get over the problem, but it hasn't gone away.

Still got the same confusion for the engine number's, pre and post 349808 on the INA ones. My engine number is 5 digits, seems to be way off. Any ideas o. What's going on and if I need the post or pre 349808?

What are the last 6 digits of your VIN/chassis number? That's normally the numbers that the belt manufacturers are referring to.

That makes more sense, I always understood the vin to be the "chassis "number not engine number, so the gates and INA description threw me right off! Thanks very much I can get the right one now! Have a good evening |
