And the fact it’s about as aerodynamic as a brick. The battery was full when I collected it and all it had was 130 miles on the range indicator:

What bothers me is that Jay Leno has an electric car made at turn of 19th century, goes at 40 mph, think, has a range of 80 miles. . . I’m not impressed with the progress made over the last 120 yrs!

I had our company EV van the other day (Peugeot Transit equivalent) as it had to go in for a service. Usual range is 200 to 250 which suits us as all of our trips are around MK so no great distance. Now some people say EVs have no 'soul' and are boring to drive but put the van in 'power' mode and stamp the pedal to the floor and a lot of ICE car drivers with their soulful rasp from the smoke pipe are left wondering how they've been left standing by a van, of course the range indication drops very rapidly with that sort of driving a lot like an ICE car's mpg figures will do if they try to keep up.
But it's still 'horses for courses', for us with no distance work and the joys of MK's dual carriageways with a roundabout every half mile the EV isn't a bad choice.

EV benefit from local work because of the regen charging. Motorway constant speed gives little to none in the regen charging unless there’s a few long downhill sections. My hybrid recharges well on these long downhill sections and then grabs sparks from any deceleration it can.
I wouldn’t have an EV vehicle for distance running, I’d stick to hybrid.

What do we know about this? Game changer? Or hype?

Hype (well in practice)

Haven't read the article as I'm not a subscriber but I think it's Polestar.

Yes there will be batteries coming up you can charge in 10 minutes (* to 80%), but in the UK at least you'd need a 1,600 Amp electrical supply. Given we are currently a country mile away from the charging infrastructure we need today for the current population of EV's, the thought of banks of chargers that could supply that is impractical unless they abut the fence of a powerstation or substation.

If you look carefully at the computer display in the above video - it's charging at 800 volts at 480 Amps (380 Kwh). So from a 240 volt supply, that would pull 1520 Amps, not allowing for any losses......

Also very interesting is those folk look and sound very Swedish, not Chinese, if you Google their names they're based at Volvo in Gothenburg - which sort of debunks recent noise that Volvo have ditched Polestar.
